The Spot Up Shootout is a month of February shooting challenge for all ages, genders, and leagues. This year's Spot Up Shootout will be held in youth practices during the weeks of February 1st-23rd. The concept is simple: Shooters shoot 50 shots from a spot on the floor that is based on their grade. For instance, sixth graders shoot 50 shots from 12 feet away (see chart). Coaches send in the shooting results to Newark Valley Basketball Corporation. The top shooter(s) from each grade will be recognized for their shooting skills. Get shooting, Cardinals!
Use the Spot Up Shootout to Raise Cash for Camps. Those shooters interested in attending summer basketball camps or playing AAU have the option of using the Spot Up Shootout as a fundraiser to help with the cost of their basketball development.
The Cash for Camps concept is simple. Players get donors to contribute to their growing basketball camp fund by agreeing to donate either a flat amount or for each shot made (See the youth shootout form for donation examples). Players using the Shootout as a fundraiser shoot their 50 shots just like all other players on their team's designated night.
The Spots on the Floor
Starting an NV Basketball Corporation account is required for participation in the Cash for Camps portion of the Shootout. Account setup is easy, and simply initiated when shootout funds are turned in. Money earned from the Shootout will be collected by coaches and turned into Newark Valley Basketball Corporation, where it will be held until a written request for basketball funds is made by a parent or guardian. If donations cannot be turned in during the days of the Shootout, the money is required soon after. Checks should be made out to NV Basketball Corporation and mailed to Treasurer Lisa Salamida to NV Basketball Corporation, PO Box 92, Newark Valley, NY 13811.
Requests for basketball funds should be made in a timely matter to Treasurer Lisa Salamida at PO Box 92, Newark Valley, NY 13811, or treasurer@nvbasketball.com. Written requests should include the following:
(1) player's name
(2) guardian's name
(3) name of camp or team event
(4) date(s)
(5) fee(s)
(6) amount of shootout funds requested
NV Basketball Corporation accounts remain active through high school graduation. Accumulated funds may then be transferred to a younger player, or they will be absorbed into the general Newark Valley Basketball Corporation account.
